In case you were unaware, Lithium ion batteries are also being used on SSETI
Express. After a discussion with the manufacturers SAFT, the differences
between the space qualified batteries and the non-space qualified versions
are: the use of PTFE wire for the space qualified version, the use of Kapton
covering rather than plastic, and that the space qualified integrated
protection circuitry used a PCB without solder mask. Oh, a several thousand
dollars probably.

So for SSETI Express, non-space qualified batteries were purchased and the
manufacturers' changes were made by the SSETI Express team, except for the
PCB, which was simply coated with conformal coating.
