You're demonstrating the maximal satellite station, not the minimal
needed to make a contact. Sure, it makes it possible to just pick up
the mic and talk. But, you can still make contacts with a manually
pointed antenna and a little bit of manual dexterity to tune the VFO and
move the antenna. Make sure you tell them that, and describe more of
the physical nature of what is happening. They might then understand
more of the issues and why a complex system can simplify your needs.
