You need to use a serial-to-USB adapter. You can't
just wire the pins on a DB-9 to a USB plug. Since I'm
not aware of (doesn't somebody doesn't make one) a
Null-Modem USB-to-Serial converter, you'll still need
a null-modem adapter to connect to the converter.
