Alaska LEO Luncheon

THE LEO amateur radio scientific society of ALASKA will have its next meeting
on Saturday, April 9th. at the Szechuan Restaurant, 11751 Business Blvd., Eagle
River.  694-9168.  No officers, no business meetings, no dues, no politics, no
titles or rank, just the science of Amateur Radio. 

Speakers are:

Dale Hershberger - KL7XJEd Cole - AL7EBandDan O'Barr - KL7DR.
All three of these Amateur Radio Operators are AMSAT Area Coordinators for
Alaska.  They are all current board members, and/or former presidents of their
local Ham Radio Clubs, members of ARRL, and share a passion for space-based
Amateur Radio communications. If they dont know the answer to your question,
you can bet they can tell you were to find it. They will cover the How to and
Whats Available here in Alaska. 

Dale Hershberger - KL7XJ.. Dale is also a Flight Director for the Challenger
Learning Center in Kenai http://www.akchallenger.org.  He is retired from
British Petroleum, and works part time for the local radio stations KSRM, KWHQ,
KKIS, KSLD, where he is a board operator when they broadcast sports games for
the local schools.
Ed Cole - AL7EB.. Ed is also an Alaska Volunteer Coordinator for the
SETI-League http://www.SETI.org/, and Kenai Peninsula ARES SM.  He is past
president and current member of the Moose Horn ARC http://www.qsl.net/al7le/,
as well as a current board member of SARA.  Ed is also a member of AARC
http://www.kl7aa.org/, SBMS, and NTMS.  He was first licensed as KN8MWA, in
Nov. 1958.
Dan O'Barr - KL7DR.. Dan is also past president and current board member of
MARA http://www.KL7JFU.com.  He is one of the founding members of The Great and
Honorable LEO Society (Gahleos) and he sponsors and maintains the web site:
http://gahleos.obarr.net.  Dan has been the communications Coordinator for the
Re-start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race for 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005
http://www.iditarod.com.  He is also a member of AARC, APCO, and ASDF
