AMSAT Activities at Hamvention 2005

Hi All.

Hamvention 2005 will be 20 -22 May this year. This is also the ARRL National Convention. As has been the custom for several years. AMSAT has two social events planned. There is a pizza n' suds party on the Thursday night before Hamvention and the AMSAT banquet on Friday night. Reservations are required for both events because of space limitations at the restaurants.

If you are planning to attend Hamvention and would like to voulenteer to work in the AMSAT booth contact Barry Baines at WD4ASW@AMSAT.ORG.

For further information on Hamvention 2005 visit the Hamvention website at www.Hamvention.org. You will find information on hotel reservations, forums and exhibitors at the web site.

Further information, such as driving directions to the parties, can be found at www.AMSAT.org under the Dayton Hamvention listing.

Thursday 19 May 2005
The Fourth Annual AMSAT "Pizza ní Suds" party will be held again this year at Marionís Pizza at 1320 North Fairfield Rd. The party will begin at 6:30 PM and go until the last pizza is gone! Food can be ordered from the menu and drinks (beer, wine, sodas and iced tea) are available at the bar. The party is open to all hams that are interested in amateur satellites. Come on in and make friends with some new hams. If you plan to attend please contact Dave Misek (N8NPX) in advance at N8NPX@ARRL.NET and let him know how many will be in your group.

FRIDAY 20 MAY 2005
The AMSAT Banquet will be held Friday evening at 6:00 PM. A happy hour will be held until 7:30 PM and there will be a COD bar. This year there will be appetizers served at the bar starting at 6:30 PM for those who attend happy hour! Again this year, the buffet banquet will be held at the Amber Rose Restaurant at 1400 Valley St. in old north Dayton. As with past years the meal will be a buffet. Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM. Price for the dinner is $27.50 per person and includes appetizers, salad, meal (three different meat dishes, potatoe dish and vegtable) and desert, tax and gratuity. Coffee, tea and iced tea are included. Reservations are required and the banquet is strictly limited to 90 people maximum. Please contact Nancy Makley, KC8GYW@AMSAT.ORG for reservations.
