Over-simplified satellite idea

I was thinking about how important satellite batteries are and their care.

Perhaps in the future, some group could construct and launch a LEO
satellite that instead of utilizing batteries, is a simpler design with an
EPROM memory controlled microprocessor based satellite that powers the
recievers and transmitters directly from the solar cells.
This would limit operation to when the satellite is in sunlight, but
considering that solar panels can last 20 or 30 years, the satellite would
last longer barring other life issues.

Just food for thought, 73, patrick N2OEQ
