Hi William.
I think this device has an odd AGC characteristic. It detects a preset
level and then drops its gain by a fixed 35dB. Unless that can be bypassed, then
it'll sound a bit strange.
There may be something more suitable from Analog devices.

The MAX1473 is also very interresting to experiment
with. Together they can be used to make a credit-card
sized FM satellite :o)
Unfortunatly I can not find any supplier that has them
in their list...
