Check out the helix antenna in the satellite section
of any recent ARRL Handbook. The revision published
in the last 2 years (with the element supported on
posts instead of axial rods) has better circularity
and is less effected by weather. Easy to build.
The article also shows a 10W amp, which was OK
for CW on AO40, but generally too weak for SSB.
