I reiterate the gentleman's point... without an entry point 
that is suitable for the new-comers the hobby (and it IS a 
hobby!) is destined  to become more and more exclusive, and 
it's proponents to continue the "aging" process...

What sort of a interest is there for them in a 20-30 second 
exchange of "Callsign, grid and report"  ?? 

A colleague of mine has made one (count it --- one!!) contact 
on a satellite. He actually likes to talk to people --- 
imagine that !!!!!!!
