At 00:06 UTC had an excellent 5 min QSO
(no one else on) with G6HRH using a
Kenwood 732A in Med power (10W)
thru a poor feedline into a J pole ant for
full quieting.
Max elevation 6 degrees.
But I did kind of cheat as I used
my 2 x 10 turn helix ants, preamp
and FT847 for RX. The 732A with
a low gain preamp and 1/4 wave vertical
was not adequate for RX.
On 01:40 pass added more preamp
gain and with 1/4 vert used 732A for
RX/TX and worked K9OIM and KE4AZN
but RX very marginal. It takes a
minimum set up to get into AO-51 but
but you need to put max effort into
RX side.
