Re: ISS/PCSAT Joint Operations

There has been at least one successful ISS/PCSAT digipeat already!

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?W0NKA

Two things to consider:
1) If anyone wants to "preserve" a successful SPACE packet,
they must use an exclusive callsign while using the satellites.
this is because the global APRS network will caputre any other
packets and overwrite previous ones. SO after the pass, you
go back to APRS as normal (wiht the same SSID) and they
will overwrite the previous data). We suggest using an SSID
of -6 for space operations so you can keep separate track of
your Satlelite APRS station compared to your mobile and home.

2) the packet you linke above,

W0NKA>APAGW,RS0ISS-3*,PCSAT-1,SGATE,WIDE,qAo,KC0RWZ-2:=4417.47N/09317.22Wy>Shane,
Rice County Minn EN34ih

is not a successful dual hop, because it was heard via
the first hop only. Not the second hop. The * has to be
after the second hop of the two to be a success.

3) The above station is doing it right. That is, explicitly
setting the dual-hop path in the correct order for the
geometry he is attempting. My early advice of using
a generic WIDE,WIDE path was BAD advice if used
when both are in view at the same time... That will just
guarnantee collisions and double the QRM...

Congrats to W0NKA!

Looking forward to trying it this evening.
