If you're talking about CABLE channel 18, then I have bad news...  The 2 
meter ham band occupies the same RF space as the cable TV channel 18.  The 
theory is that the two can coexist because the cable stuff is supposed to be 
contained inside the cable.  My guess is that replacing the physical cable 
with a higher quality (more shielding) variety may help, but you can't 
eliminate the fundamental RF without killing the TV signal as well.

I had a similar problem here, with a local repeater on 145.250 that got 
solved when the cable company revamped their lineup and put a shopping 
channel on 18 instead of something "useful" :-).

When using 2 meters for uplink on fo-29 I get strong rfi on channel 18 on my
tv"s.  What type of choke etc. can I use to get rid of the rfi. I 
already
tried the torids. Was getting rfi on channel 2 and used couple turns around
a torid and it too took care of the channel 2 problem.
