Les,
Yes, I use a homebrew program for Doppler correction (I tried a couple of
other programs and they worked fine but I decided to write something of my
own). You will need a CT-17 level converter if you want computer control.
I use NOVA, the SASI Sat Tracker with a Yaesu G-5400B. Together with the
Doppler shift program, operating the satellites is a 'hands free' process.
A personal comment on the FT-847 vs. the IC-910H comparison. I wanted the
best performing HF transceiver available at the time (the FT-1000MP_MkV) and
I prefer the convenience of a separate HF and satellite transceivers (no
antenna/radio switching to go from satellite to HF and the availability of
both HF and Satellite at the same time).
in my opinion:
- If performance (on HF) and convenience are you main concerns, the IC-910H
and a separate HF transceiver is your best choice.
- If flexibility and cost are you main concerns, the FT-847 is probably the
best choice.

Do you ever use auto doppler correcting software control?
I have NOVA, the Y-5500 rotor and a SASI Sat Tracker.
I saw a program called SuperControl. The Uni_Trac 2003 also looks
interesting.
