RE: rotator
Hi Nick,
The Alliance rotors (TV-type) come in two flavors - ones with a index switch
and ones with a variable resistor, for position feedback. Most
computer-driven controllers require a potentiometer for position feedback,
but they can probably be adapted for the variable resistor. If your rotor
uses the index switch, you need to find or construct something different.
My Az/El setup consists of a pair of index switch-type rotors. I don't know
the brand for the Az rotor, but I am using an Alliance on its side for
elevation. The controller is homebrew, based on a Basic Stamp. A
discussion of the design and source code are at:

Good luck,

I am looking for a cheap rotator interface hardware to control an Alliance
rotator. Does the list have any suggestions?
thanks
nick
