Re: HTs on Airplanes

Steve,
I always take at least one HT on trips with me in my carry-on luggage. I
have had my bag inspected, but never told that I could not carry the
equipment with me. Usually I carry my TH-D7 with GPS and assorted support
equipment. I have added my FT-817 to the group when we vacation to Hawaii.
Again never told they were not acceptable. MP-1 HF antenna and Arrow dual
band satellite antenna ride in the checked luggage. It has been opened by
the TSA but no problem encountered.
I hope you realize that you will not be able to operate any transmitting
device from the aircraft, but you should have no problem transporting them.
My experience has been with all the major airlines including trips to Europe
and England, and commuter airlines.
Hope this helps, pack them in your carry-on and enjoy when you get to your
destination.
