RE: Ao-51 Mode V/S
I second this... My first attempt at receiving the AO-51 S-band downlink
(had to kick my old Drake back to life). Using my AO-40 setup that barely
would move the S-meter, I had signals peaking at S-9. Wow! The fades
weren't bad, however Doppler is a trip to follow, and I didn't have the
automation turned on. My AZ rotor is also inoperaative when the sun goes
down (cold), so I had the station parked at mid-pass and waited for the bird
to fly through. New rotor will go up this weekend, weather and guests
permitting.

Hello Everyone,
Nice to work K7MT, VE6BGT, WB0EQP, W7LRD on AO-51 Mode V/S on 04:48 UTC
pass.
Good copies using a 53" Homebrew Dish with 3733 Down converter. Some
very deep fades and of course lots of Doppler but good signals. I heard some
stations trying on 06:28 UTC west coast pass but no contacts made......wow
what a job manually tuning doper ! Hope to hear some stations on the morning
passes?
