Help with rig problems

Good afternoon to the group,

Since the FT-107M is the IF for my satellite station I'll stretch a point
and consider this message relevant to this forum. I'm working on my old
FT107M transceiver and I think it has a bad HF OSC/VFO mixer IC - a
SN76514N. There is very little output from the IC but the inputs seem
OK. The part is no longer available form Yaesu. All my life (or most of
it anyway) I have known (or thought) that the SN76514 was the same as an
LM1496 (plus 1596 and others). I can also find several sources on the
Internet that indicates they are the same. I ordered one and installed
it but it doesn't work at all. (The SN76514 is working a little.)
Thinking that I might have gotten a bad one I found some on ebay and
bought them. They didn't work either. Comparing the schematic of the
FT107M to the LM1496 data sheet indicates to me that there is no way
these two devices can be the same!

The SN76514N is apparently used in the TS-700 and the FRG-7 and I'm sure
there are others. Has anyone out there been down this road or can point
me to a source where I can find a SN76514N or at least a data sheet for
it?

Thanks de Jess - W4MVB
