Before the events after the launch of AO-40, it was difficult to convince
most satellite operators on the advantages. As you mention, and you are
not alone, antenna space can be hard to find in urban communities.
Microwave frequencies are quite attractive since antennas are relatively
small (above 2-GHz this usually is a small dish). Of course there are real
communication advantages to the generally quieter mw radio sky. CC-Rider
will have additional attraction in that a single dish feed will be
sufficient, making it even simpler.
