Re: R: Is anyone working on equipment for C-C Rider?
Domenico,
You have raised a good reason for the construction of regional earth-based
C-C Rider Repeaters. Many of us were left with equipment that never had a
chance for use. Since C-C Rider does not operate on the standard 5 GHz
frequency for either terrestrial or moon bounce operation, it will require
investment in new equipment by everyone. That is much easier to justify if
it is usable for daily use on mw!
I had contracted DEM for a 10.451/144 Rx-conv. and fortunately they did not
have it ready before it was know the 10 GHz transmitter was not working on
AO-40. I did buy their 1268 MHz Tx-conv. which was in production for only
a short time. So even the mw mfr's got left with stuff they could not
market. That will make it hard to sell them on tooling up once
more....unless the risk is removed by developing for other use in addition
to satellite. This is being promoted and I endorse it.
I have mw gear up to 24 GHz and my nearest QRV station is 2200 miles from
me...guess that makes me an optimist (or something). But someone has to go
first...and hope others follow. Obviously you are a leader on mw
satellite, Dom. Here's hoping you get to use the equipment on future
satellites. BTW 10.451 GHz is the Japanese eme freq.
MW operation on satellites or eme is my only realistic chance for activity,
so I would welcome seeing the launch of mw transponders.
