I am sorry that I may have not made my concerns as clear as I would have liked. The issue is not that the article on member profiles was published in the journal. It was the fact that it took up more space than anything else in the journal. I'm sure this information could have been condensed into one or two pages. I am the editor of my local ham club newsletter and I know how hard it is to put it together when nothing gets submitted by members for publication. I usually add a note that says until more comes in from the members for publishing, I as editor will publish what I feel is appropriate for the members. I hate to fluff my newslettter but sometimes it is the only way to have one. I certainly would not have minded if the journal was only 21 pages long. I go for quality and not quantity. Thanks for all your comments.
