RE: AMSAT Journal - Meisse Reply -
Hank,
Regarding the Membership Profile in the latest "Journal"
For some years, board members and AMSAT officers have had questions about
the structure and views of the membership, especially when it came to
designing new services or birds. Many people had differing views of what
they thought the real facts were. Additionally, we are working on developing
non member funding for AMSAT. That effort required that we have a more
factual base upon which to make decisions.
When I ran for a seat on the Board of Directors, I specifically said I would
do such a membership study to bring more facts to the table so we could make
more informed judgments. I have done just that. The concluded study gives us
much of the information we needed and it will be put to good use on behalf
of all AMSAT members. As was mentioned on an earlier posting, this project
cost AMSAT nothing. There was so much interest in the process that we
elected to publish a complete article on the results in the Journal.
Keep reading the Journal and I am sure you will see much about EAGLE I & II
over the coming months and years. I hope we can count on you and all AMSAT
members for the support we will need for this tremendous project..
Regards,
Gunther Meisse

MY 2cents worth............. I was very unhappy when I received my latest
Journal last week. I could not beleive my eyes finding 13 of 31 pages
devoted to AMSAT membership profiles. How about a nice 13 page article
describing how good Eagle will be when launched. I certainly won't
contribute any money to another membership profile. I could care less how
many people use dial-up vs dsl.
.........my opinion........Hank, N8ANR
