Re: Rohn BX towers

Freeman -

As Bob, WE1U, mentioned - the biggest enemy of the Rohn BX series is its
inability to deal effectively with twisting or tonsion forces (e.g., twisting
moments that can twist the tower
apart). This is the reason for the boom length restriction.

The BX tower series cross braces are RIVETED. The cross bracing for the Rohn
25G and 45G towers is WELDED.

Can it be improved? Possibly (guys, additonal structural members) -- BUT it
was just not designed for that type of usage.

BTW, for AMSAT members who may be wondering about Radian/Rohn, In 2003 ROHN
(then under bankruptcy) was purchased by RADIAN. RADIAN/ROHN began shipping
Rohn 25G and 45G tower products again - the first week of August 2004.
