FWIW recently I came across a commercial Nuvistor 2m to 10m downconvertor,
and I tried it a few weeks ago. It must be 25 years++ old - it still has an
old style UK 2 amp round pin plug on it. I was _very_ impressed with its
performance noise-wise, but the LO drift was certainly nothing to write home
about!
