All,
Have been playing with B/W 8 and 12 second slow scan TV modes on FO-29. The idea came up while trying to find a compromise between picture resolution, transmit time and the satellite power budget.
The short transmit time helps with LEO doppler at 70cm while the resolution of the black and white picture seems good enough for close-up mug-shots, shack photos etc. The quiet 70cm downlink seems to allow for legible pictures at low to moderate uplink power levels. As always, adjust the uplink not to overburden the satellite.
I'm not suggesting that everyone load FO-29 with continuous duty modes like RTTY and Slow Scan when the bird is crowded with signals, but it doesn't hurt to experiment now and then if not overdone.
