Re: new digital mode?
Assi,
IMHO..
I always thought that one of the aims of Ham Radio was to maintain a cadre of
personnel trained and experienced in the art of communications.
As in the recent case of hurricane Ivan and areas of disaster, the Radio amateur is
there providing a vital (and frequently the only) link to the outside world,
I am a 'newbie' to the satellite world but have held full privilege licenses in many
countries since I built my first RX/TX in 1964. But now I find myself on a very limited
income. I cannot afford to buy the latest and greatest 'widgets' and 'gizmo's' to
enable me to be with the 'state of the art' !!
I am very grateful that AMSAT continues to include the so-called <old> modes so
that I, and other newbies, can continue to enjoy this mode of communication with
relatively inexpensive and readily available equipment !!
BTW I still enjoy listening to SW BC on my re-built Hallicrafters S38 :-)
Shalom, Happy New Year and I wish you Well over the Fast.
Just my 2 cents...
