RE: Mast mountable enclosures
You can find inexpensive plastic outdoor enclosures at electrical supply
stores or your local home center. They are rugged and come with waterproof
gaskets. In the U.S., a decent sized box is about $7 at Lowes. They are
intended for outdoor electrical fixtures. Since they are plastic, it is
easy to drill holes necessary for routing cables. They have mounting tabs
on the outside to allow you to attach it to the mast.

I have had good success using discarded 1.5 litre plastic fizzy drink
containers.
You cut the top of the bottle off, turn it upside down and stuff the preamp
"up it" with the cables coming down.
It works so long as the unit has a decent voltage regulator on board - and
is powered 24/7. This keeps it nice and dry and being open at the bottom
means that condensation does not occur.
I find the fizzy water bottles - which are usually dark green seem to be ok
with regard to UV- at least here in the UK.
Technical improvements to keep out birds nests and flies etc are easy to
conceive.
YMMV but they are free, lightweight, flexible and readily available!
