Mark,

I think you might be refering to something like Hellschreiber (Feld Hell
Mode). I've used it on AO-10 and even FO-20 and 29 in the past. It worked
beautifully on AO-40 as well. It works well as a satellite digital mode
because it can handle the doppler when other modes fail. Nino's
Hellschreiber program actually has a satellite mode that allows full-duplex
operation.
