Re: ECHO on L/S mode

Jean Louis

There are at least five high power regional air traffic control radars here
in the Uk that have transmitters centred between 1260 and 1270MHz. Three of
them are very near to 1268MHz so it is not surprising that AO51 can detect
their signals when it is near to us.

We can hear them on our ATV receivers here and they switch their prfs
between each rotation of their scanners so they have a characteristic
sound - something like a "brip" followed by a lower frequency "brop"

Many will have seen one of these big L band radars - it can be seen in the
centre of Heathrow Airport next to the Terminal One CarPark!

cheers
