SO-51 sounded great. It was fun. Made a few contacts. KB2M and myself
scratched our heads the first pass until Mike cleared things up for us. I thought it
was kinda odd not making it at 10 watts, so I cranked it up, and up and up to
100 watts into the dish and said..ummmmm something doesnt seem right !
In use for L/S here .....
Kenwood TS-2000X @ 10 watts transmit about 7 watts makes it to the patch.
1.8 meter dish with tri-band patches Khune preamp mounted right on the patch
for 2.4 . Small jumpers off the patches and preamp into 1 5/8 heliax
coming down the tower and into the shack ( approx 3 - 80 ft runs) to 3 -15 ft runs
of Andrews 1/2 heliax ( I found it a little hard to hook up the 1 5/8
connectors to the radio) for the 3 bands and a Parabolic down-converter right behind
the radio.
I manually tune by ear and hand for doppler shift up and down. Gotta have
some fun.
It would be nice to see more on the bird during these Wens. modes. I guess in
time ther will be.
Is it possible to have 2 uplinks going and 2 downlinks all FM going at the
same time? If so maybe this will be the next experiment on Wens?
