Naysayers

*This is the last time I'll cc all these lists, except echo-ops and
amsat-bb*

On the subject of no one being able to capture the receiver with all the
same ERP...

Have you forgotten that there is a 20db difference in uplink strength in the
way you hold an arrow alone? Add to this the difference in path loss from a
sat on the horizon and one dead ahead and you have a pretty wide spread.
Additionally, having the high power ops stand down for a day simply cuts the
numbers...how can this not help? Finally, an integral part of the proposal
is asking users to limit themselves to 1 or 2 QSOs per pass.

On the subject of being unenforceable....

Peer pressure is a powerful tool! We have done this before with QRP day on
AO-6/AO-7, we could at least give it a try here. Sure there will be people
who ignore it, but it will be painfully obvious who they are.

On the subject of ERP vs. QRP...

Let's just keep it as simple as possible...5 watts, no more antenna than an
arrow or arrow like antenna. No room for misinterpretation.

So, I ask the naysayers, what harm is there in trying? Let's listen to our
users asking for this, and if it doesn't work we can at least said we tried.

73, Drew KO4MA

BTW, not one person has identified themselves as part of the ECHO-ops
committee. What good is a committee that no one can tell even exists? No
comment from "operations" either. Does Echo have a "PR" person? What an
opportunity exists here for AMSAT to extend a hand to new users.
