Thanks alot, we heard you loud and clear. I wish i had arrived in time for
the start of the pass, but i hadn't been to Livermore in a long time and
meanwhile, gentrification strikes again; so too many red lights between
the swap meet and the QRP meeting. So by the time i discovered that 140mW
doesn't make it on a Sunday, building clutter and satellite busy-ness meant
i couldn't get a word in edgewise at 1W... But for the few people outside,
the satellite was obviously working, i was being called, and they weren't
disapointed. I'll get there earlier next time (and have my battery act a
little more together).
Folks were reasonably well behaved on AO-51 and it was obvious that people
were making contacts, and that's what was really important. So even if
personally it wasn't great, that was quite fine (as i've made hundreds of
contacts on AO-27). What counted was that people who hadn't been outside
could see the homebrew antenna and that AO-51 was working. I got several
requests to write up my antenna for QST or whatever (which i am reluctant
to do as the J-FM birds have historically been very overcroweded over the
U.S. at least) and folks expressed interest in satellites (at an event that
is largely HF-oriented). Thanks again!
