I think that a "Roger Beep" rather than a "courtesy tone" would be most
appropriate, with my understanding that the hangtime delay is not necessary for
effective communications. This is assuming that during the delay before the
carrier drops that the satellite IS accessable by another CTCSS tone, and that the
only requirement is that two equal level uplink tones are not heard at the
same time.
A Roger Beep (for us old CBers and Moon Landing viewers) should be at the end
of the Transmitting Station's "carrier/tone" drop. Reserving the courtesy
"space" is a waste of a percentage of resources, IMHO. If we had more than one
channel this would not be as important. But we have to work with what's up
there. As for a packet burst, I am all for it...
