Humorous note that applies to you if you need another radiation source:
Once upon a time, the West Virginia legislature wanted to prevent abandoned
coal mines from being reopened as radioactive waste dumps... They went so
far as to limit the amount of radioactive material that could be legally
deposited in a mine... 15 mCuries/ton... so, it is now illegal to dig up
coal, and then put it back in the mine...

   But back to the original topic. If you go to antique stores, you can
sometimes find the old red-orange Fiesta-ware pottery, which is quite
radioactive.    I've also been told that the ash from a coal burning
plant can be relatively radioactive as well.
