Re: Orbit Numbers



There are different ways to compute orbit numbers.  Some compute orbit 1 as 
the launch orbit.  Others start at the beginning of the next orbit when the 
satellite crosses the equator on the ascending pass, and others still on 
the descending pass.  In Nova there is a setting for this, and WinOrbit and 
Satscape seem to be one orbit ahead.  So if it's not explicit (like Nova) 
you should check the documentation for your tracking program.  I believe 
Satscape and WinOrbit both have comments in the help file, but an easy test 
is to watch the orbit number when the satellite crosses the Equator to see 
where it increments.  That will tell you the criteria.
