Giving this more thought - I was wrong before when I said he "should be able
to configure/run the programs one at a time using the single connection to
the TS2K and a single connection to the PC" - therefore he would need an AB
switch and two PC ports - and yes Uni_Trac 2003 can use a USB<->Serial
adapter if the PC lacks serial ports.
The main problem is the TS2K radio only has one port - it's not just a
problem with lack of PC ports. You can't connect two serial ports from the
computer directly to the single port on the TS2K radio regardless of the
type (USB<->Serial or pure serial) and have Uni_Trac work properly.
Uni_Trac 2003 needs the following....
UT_SW | PC Port<->Uni_Trac HW<--->TS2K Radio port
|
Rotator Port
and his other program needs...
Prolog SW | PC Port<------------->TS2K Radio port
So to make it work...
Rotator Port
|
UT_SW | PC_port1<---UT_HW--
|AB SW | <->TS2K port
Prolog| PC_port2<----------

Hi Don:
I had to use an A/B switch to work with my FT-847 - one to go to the
parallel port via the Uni-trac, and the other to a standard serial port for
CAT control. I'm not sure how the new one (USB?) would work with this.

A USB<->Serial adapter will work fine with Uni_Trac 2003 software and the
Uni_Trac 2003 serial hardware but Bill only has one port on the TS2K radio
and wants to use two programs which need to access the TS2K's radio port if
I understand correctly.
He won't be able to use the two programs at the same time but should be able
to configure/run the programs one at a time using the single connection to
the TS2K and a single connection to the PC.

Have you considered using a USB to serial port adapter? They typically
cost about $30 to $50 and I have yet to find a piece of software that
hasn't worked with one. Although, I haven't tried one with a Unitrac.
