RE: Insertion loss for RF connector adaptors

The loss is negligible at 70 cm.

However, a more important concern is the impedance mismatch on the noise figure of a sensitive preamplifier. A significant improvement in signal to noise ratio is possible when working with the best cavity preamplifiers by merely swapping cables and connectors to optimize the impedance match. The mechanics of some preamps makes fine tweaking at the antenna difficult, if not impossible.

At 10GHz, it is possible to obtain significant improvements in transmitter power output with the same swapping techniques to find the best cables and connectors.
