  Why on earth could Kenwood not have come out with a version of that
TH-D7 that worked on 220mhz?

  220mhz is under utilised. Instead of allowing Skycommand on 2m,
Kenwood should have been forced (we are the consummers remember?) to
build something for 220mhz.
