Re: RS15



I can confirm this report. While the beacon is sometimes pretty strong, it's
just a solid tone with a pretty bad chirp. I have not gotten a return signal
in a few years from this sat either, with up to 10x10 elements and 160
watts. Seems to me it's a goner for sure.

While the topic has been somewhat broached, I think it's time to move SO-41
to the "not currently operational" category as well. I'm guessing it still
works, but is _not_ ever heard over Florida. I imagine the Saudis are either
using it for their own experiments only (which is their perogative), or just
are too busy with other things to fix the timer problem that it initially
had. I've fielded many questions about why newbies can't hear it, and it
does not reflect well on AMSAT that we continue to report it as
"operational" without the caveat that no one has heard it in months.....

Sure looking forward to Echo, VUsat, Kiwisat, Cesarsat, etc.......the 2-way
LEO fleet is getting thin.
