Re: WB4APR's Outgassing Question



Anything designed for surface mount won't display much outgassing. The parts are
either free of contaminants to begin with or are baked before shipping and
packaged in sealed envelopes with dessicant and humidity monitoring strips that
are good for one year. Parts are usually soldered to PCBs within a week of
opening the packaging. Anything that has absorbed water tends to fracture during
IR or convection soldering.
