RE: [advisors] Remembering William H. Pickering, Former Director of JPL

I have had calls from several old friends today, concerning the passing of
Wm. Pickering
on Monday. It was also reported in the Chicago Tribune this morning that
his Mr. Pickering's
son passed away two days earlier.

This now leaves James Van Allen at 90 as the surviving member of the famous
photograph of
the Explorer 1 model hoisted above their heads.

My condolensences to the family.

G. Beat
