Call For Papers - West Coast Space Symposium

Project OSCAR, in conjunction with the Electronics Department of the
College of San Mateo, is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for the
Project OSCAR 2004 Space Symposium, to be held on April 24th 2004. The
Symposium will be the first of an annual event in support of OSCAR
satellites and their use.
TOPICS
Possible topics of discussion include but should not be limited to:
* Micro and Cubesat Mission Programs
* High Earth Orbit Satellite Technologies
* Power Systems for OSCAR Satellites
* QRM and QRN Issues
* Ground Station Design and Planning
* Antenna Systems
* Precise Time Measurement Applications
* Control Systems
* Sensors and Experiments
* Satellite Telemetry Systems
* Digital Modes of Operation
* CAN Bus and Interface Technology
* Adapting COTS (Commercially available Off the Shelf) Technology to
Amateur Satellites
* Spectrum Issues and Management
* Current Status and Usage Trends
* User Experiences, Good and Bad
* Academic Amateur Programs
* Future Trends
AGENDA
The preliminary agenda for the Symposium is:
Friday
8:00-10:00 Optional informal reception (location TBD)
Saturday
8:00-8:15 Opening Remarks
8:30-10:30 Antenna Range Shoot-out
10:45-12:00 Presentations
12:00-1:15 Lunch Break
1:15-2:15 Presentations
2:30-3:30 Presentations
3:45:-5:15 Round table panel discussion
7:00-8:00 Optional informal dinner event
COST AND LOCATION
The projected donation for attending the symposium will be $20. The event
will be held on the campus of the College of San Mateo California, located
approximately 10 miles south of San Francisco International Airport. This
is viewed largely as a west coast event however Amateur Satellite operators
from around the world are invited.
PRESS POLICY
This is primarily a conference for users of OSCAR satellites however we do
encourage members of the press to attend. One press pass will be made
available to each publication requesting a pass two weeks prior to the
event or earlier, subject to the approval of the Symposium Chair.
