RE: Be prepared for the worse + ao-40 BATT
Just to pointed out i was refering to 1296MHZ for moon bounce eg: former AO-40 L-banders have immediate TX-
RX capabilities on many transverters.
Batteries VS regulators on AO-40.
Following an extensive phone discussion last thursday with an AO-40 newbie. We try to figure out how much
power BCR'S can dissipate when charging in the present batteries configuration? Taking in account the main
one with failing cell (s) and AUX in a deep discharge condition. Is the current flow needed in thoses
conditions can exceed BCR capacities? knowing without BCR it will be nearly impossible to recover any
batteries.
Excerpt from Peter Guelzow post.
"For example, you could use a normal relay which is simply powered from the Bus and disconnects
the battery when the Bus voltage drops under a certain extreme low level, which normally never occurs.. even
under high load. The BCR can run without battery, thus the satellite would work when not in eclipse."
To concluded how much beating BCR can handle before blowing up?
Excerpt from i8CVS Domenico and DJ7AL Rolf
"The temperature sensor of heatpipe 4+X+Y suddently increased from
27 to 92 centigrade and voltage dropped from 26 to 14 volts during the
same time."
The heat sensors on columbia left wiing also reported anormal values and sensors malfunction was the first
intrerpretation given. But we all know sensors where right.
An automatic BCR to solar panel automatic switching system is something engeneer does not evaluate essential
on the first construction steps!..." when the Bus voltage drops under a certain extreme low level "
