Re: Is AO-40 70cm uplink possible from inside apartment?

Hi David,
A question that needs to be asked to fully answer this is what are you using for receiving the satellite? How loud is the beacon above the noise?

Subject: [amsat-bb] Is AO-40 70cm uplink possible from inside apartment?

Hi all, I'm confined to an apartment with no balcony, however I do have a window in my living room that allows me to listen to AO-40 when it's azimuth is at 200 degrees or more. I have a 7-element arrow antenna, which I've tried to use for my uplink, with poor results. I could barely even hear myself whistling. I did make an 8x8 CP "cheap yagi", but I haven't tested that out yet.

Do you think uplinking through an apartment window is my problem? I can transmit up to 50W with my 847, or 100W if I run my amp. Any suggestions/help/advice?

Thanks, and I hope to work you (or hear you at the very least) on AO-40 when it's back online ..
