Hello all,
Please,
Right now we have a situation, which hopefully can be solved
by the combined effort of the control stations and other people who know
AO-40.
The issue of too high uplink power has been with us ever since the
first linear transponder. It is not a question of using U or L band
uplink - it is a question of adhering to proper practice.
It has always been like that.
I have not been active for many years - started in 1993 - but I
have read through a lot of the older publications on radio amateur
satellites.
The ever returning problem of too much uplink EIRP is there with
regular intervals.
LEILA is an attempt to solve the problem, but it is not good enough
as of now.
Hopefully that will change with new designs.
It is no good to stamp Italian radio amateurs as the problem.
The problem is with the individual person weather Italian,
Danish, American or any other nationality.
The last trend with anonymous postings on the AO-40 logger is
non-productive.
Right now I hope AO-40 will be back in good shape so that we can use it for
many
more years.
