Depends on the window.

Suggest looking at the edge of the glass where it meets the frame. If you
see a what looks like a dark, wiggly line running the length of the frame,
you've got "insulated" glass. It works by using a metalized mylar film to
(1) filter out infrared and (2) trap two insulating air spaces.

The metalized mylar film, in my experience, is a terrific radio
reflector. Mount this to a building made of concrete, a good radio
absorber, and you've left yourself inside a radio quiet room.

This is the same problem which police, fire, and rescue folks find when
they take their hand held radios inside apartment and office
buildings. You're not alone.

Solutions: open the window or go portable.

Hope this helps.
