AO-40 passband usage

I have just read Stacey's comments regarding the high usage of the
passband recently, this brings to mind a conversation I heard a few
days ago. Two North American hams were talking about the strength of
signals that can be achieved when using the 1.2GHz uplink. One was
obviously using 1.2 GHz with a return signal only very marginally
below the beacon strength at the time. What really concerned me was
that this person gave the impression he was not causing a problem.
He apparently didn't understand that the power available to be shared
by all using the passband is finite and that the few who run excessive
power into their uplink deprive others of reasonable access. My real
fear is that others will hop onto 1.2GHz to achieve "my signal is
stronger than yours" resulting in more frustration for others.
It is a great pity that Leila is not able to deal with this situation.
73 to all and happy days on AO-40.
