Wow !! A lot of good responses to my snow problem. I think for right
now I may have to try my roof rake. The dish is a 60cm solid type
mounted on a Glen Martin 8ft tripod roof mounted. I normally park it
facing east with the back to the wind. We had a pretty good storm here
about a week ago. The snow was wind driven from the norteast and stuck
and packed the dish full. I tried to shake it out and even had it
pointed toward the sun when it was shineing. Unfortunately for me it is
still there. If we get a thaw soon the snow may drop out and I will
surely get up there and spray the dish with silicone spray. I like the
idea of the pipe heater tape. I know they sell a similar product for
keeping the rain troughs clear in the winter. My TV dish is clear but
it also faces the other direction (SW). I expect that this snow has
really affected the reception of AO-40. With the snow it performs no
better than my old 23 turn helix. I'm praying for some temperatures
above 32 degrees soon.
