RE: Yaesu G-5500 Rotor and tracking software
Frankly, there are much cheaper ways to control the 5500 you should
consider, the EA4TX ARS rotor, I think is a great rotor, with 8, 10 and 12
bit movement resolution, I think is better than the GS-232. It is less than
a third the $550 cost at $140, and there are others. The software choices
are many, and I don't know them all, Nova, Satscpe, Instatrak. Just be sure
your hardware and software has enough compatibility to try different
combinations, ie., some hardware locks you into software choices and
vise-versa

Subject: [amsat-bb] Yaesu G-5500 Rotor and tracking software
Hi All,
I am thinking of purchasing a Yaesu G-5500 Al/Ez rotor together with its
computer interface (GS-232A). Can anyone here tell me which is the best
software to use for satellite tracking as well as to control this
particular rotor?
Thanks a lot
