Ron,

I had similar frustrations myself... SWR was OK but they stubbornly failed
to perform (a 1/4 wavelength vertical was somewhat better...). I have even
sent the pictures to Joe, to see if I had done something wrong, and everything
appeared to be OK. If you drop by my website you'll see the picture of the
"thing" (under "satellites").

Sorry, I know this doesn't help, but at least it should lessen the frustration
a bit... ;)
