Sure.
This was purely a "systems test." I have heard ao-40 a few times before,
but the tower+cabling are nearing readiness and I felt it would be very
silly to put the dish up and find that it had stopped working for
some reason. The dish has been sitting in the basement for a few months
since I tried it on ao-40 last.
Just before I was going to put the dish outside on a camera tripod, the
dish to camera tripod adapter broke. oops. The dish ended up wired to
a kitchen chair, sitting in the front laneway. I so hope the neighbours
didn't really notice. I really wish I had have taken a photo.
After verifying it all worked, who could resist trying to put a signal
into the satellite? I couldn't. My uplink was from a ft-857 and a handheld
arrow, 7 elements and 20 watts. Inside the house through
the alumninum siding. Very marginal signal, but it worked.
I'm not going to try it quite like that again. Trust me.
Next time I am on ao-40 it should be from the tower setup, dish +
436cp30 and the ts2000. Should be another week or two.
